Campaign Season
Medford, I’m very excited to announce that I’m running for re-election. I have loved being your City Councilor, and it would be an honor to earn your vote again.
These past two years have been busy, and my first term has been defined by connecting, listening, learning, and delivering on my campaign promises. I’ve worked diligently on legislation that helped shore up the rights of our residents, like the Welcoming City ordinance and the Gender Affirming Care and Reproductive Healthcare ordinance. I collaborated with my colleagues and residents to craft a new charter, ensuring more accurate and fair representation in local government, and I’m proud to have voted in support of Medford’s first proposition 2 1/2 overrides to fund Medford’s schools and streets.
Whether it’s by listening to your concerns about potholes or standing up for our immigrant neighbors, I promise I will continue to lead Medford in the direction of progress.
When a man was walking his dog one morning through a crosswalk in west Medford and was hit by a car and died from his injuries, I worked closely with his neighbors, community organizers, local non-profits, and our State delegation to secure funding for DCR to fix the roads so that a similar tragedy will never happen again.
When a second man was killed the same way in the Salem Street rotary, I did a walking audit with Walk Medford, MassDOT, and the Medford Police Department. MassDOT will be fixing the Salem Street rotary, using traffic calming measures that will slow drivers down and keep pedestrians safe.
I will not stop beating this drum until our streets are safe, and I will not stop at infrastructure.
I’ve spent my first term unapologetically fighting for a community of care, and I hope to continue that mission in a second term.
I’m advocating for our Fire Department by asking our Mayor to use free cash to fund a full dive team to keep residents safe in our beautiful lakes and rivers. Our firefighters are ready to protect Medford - let’s help them do it.
I voted to pass the Welcoming City ordinance, which keeps Medford Police protecting Medford residents, not the interests of the federal government, and their mission to keep our community and our country living in fear.
I lobbied to free Rumeysa Ozturk with Tufts, the Medford Police, and Medford residents, writing a resolution, going to protests, and never staying silent. I worked with Councilor Tseng to write the Gender Affirming Care and Reproductive Healthcare ordinance to protect our residents from prosecution for accessing the healthcare they need in their hometown.
I’m working closely with our business community to ensure that Medford is a beautiful and friendly place to operate, with vibrant and bustling squares and business districts.
Let’s make it easier to open Medford’s newest hot spot and bring in tax revenue that allows the City to offer more services to its residents.
I am working closely with parents in elementary schools across Medford to reimagine the Citywide Elementary Alliance, to raise money for all our schools at once. We hosted our first fundraiser at the Great American Beer Hall and raised $5,000 for Medford kids across the City, brought the Harlem Wizards back to Medford to raise even more. We ensured that the money was shared equitably, based on the diverse needs and populations from Glenwood to Hillside.
As a member of the Medford Comprehensive High School Building Committee, I’m working collaboratively to deliver a brand-new high school for our students to learn and grow, and so that our community can feel a newfound sense of Mustang Pride.
I talk to residents at the Senior Center, Wegmans, the Disability Fair, soccer practice, Carr Park, Elegant Nails, and everywhere in between. I see you, I hear you, and I take action for you, whoever you are. You want and deserve a Medford that listens and responds. If you email me, I’ll write you back. If you call me, I’ll pick up the phone.
Before all else, this campaign is about taking care of each other. Everybody deserves to love where they live, and a City Council that will work tirelessly for their community. You can count on me to continue to put in the work it requires to pave our streets, fix our sidewalks, generate revenue, and bring a positive vision of Medford to life.
I’m ready to keep fighting for you. Together, we can keep this community strong and keep it moving toward progress.
