Oktoberfest

The weather is finally starting to feel like fall, and I am here for it. It’s crisp in the morning, but warm in the sunshine in the afternoon. Last weekend, on the other hand, it was roughly 8 trillion degrees. Perfect weather to celebrate Oktoberfest!

Every fall, the Medford Chamber of Commerce puts on a celebration in Medford Square. It’s one of my favorite festivals every year.

One of my top priorities for my next term is to support the business community and make it easier to open a new business in Medford. There should be clear signage for new business owners coming into City Hall, clear directions on the City of Medford website on how to open a business, and more assistance programs made available and advertised well. Plus, the changes to Medford’s zoning code proposed this term by the City Council will make it easier to open a business in Medford’s squares and business corridors!

The better we can support businesses, the more revenue we can bring in with taxes without adding additional burdens to our residents. The more revenue the city has, the more services we can offer our vulnerable residents, like housing, food, and heating assistance programs.

It benefits all of us to shop local, eat local, and support local salons, bookstores, and flower shops. When we really pay attention to the needs of our local small business community, we uplift the whole city.
