We won!

Friends, I won reelection and get to be a Medford City Councilor for another two years! I’m thrilled and absolutely cannot wait to get back to the work I love.

I am blown away by what a successful campaign we ran and so grateful to everyone who helped make Tuesday’s election the huge win for Medford that it was. I got the most votes for a City Council candidate (I am still floored by this). I will stuff the imposter syndrome down and trust that Medford wants me to do what I promised: keep our residents safe, continue to work for compassion and kindness for this city, and continue to listen to my constituents and do everything I can to make Medford the vibrant, bustling, and welcoming city our residents deserve.

Everyone who volunteered, donated, and voted for me deserves my individual thanks. I am grateful beyond words.

I can’t name everyone, but I will thank the following people by name because my love and gratitude overflows: Billy Lazzaro, Evan Lazzaro, Sally Lazzaro, Clare Liberis, Bill Liberis, Marilyn Allen, Erin Glabets, Liz Doerr, Ashley Scott, Laura Hazard Owen, Neva Durand, Stephanie Pringle, Caitlin Dobbie, Magen Price, Kit Collins, Zac Bears, Justin Tseng, Vanessa Plant, Aoife Merry, and Alyssa Baker. My darling and dear friends and family, thank you so much for inspring me and supporting me every single day through this campaign and through everything I do. I love you. You make me want to do this work and if I ever feel unsure, you make me keep going.

I would also like to thank Jessica Taddeo for being my incredible campaign manager and for also working as one of our amazing field coordinators for Our Revolution Medford. She keeps me sane, I keep her sane, we are holding each other together with chewing gum and scotch tape sometimes, but together we are held nonetheless. Just a couple of besties with ADHD against the world.

I also want to thank everyone who ran for office in Medford this year. I believe that everyone who ran did so because they wanted to make Medford better, they wanted to offer their time and energy in service to the people who live here. That is incredibly noble and brave, and they all deserve a high five and a hug.

The last photo in the gallery is actually how I fell asleep on election night. I slept in my tights on the couch until about 3:45am, full face of makeup, all lights on, face pressed onto the dog. Billy tried to rouse me, but I was having none of it, so he took my picture, as anyone would.

One more set of thanks: I’m especially grateful to my cohort of Our Revolution Medford candidates this year: Zac Bears, Anna Callahan, Matt Leming, Justin Tseng, Miranda Briseño, Liz Mullane, Jessica Parks, Aaron Olapade, Erika Reinfeld, Jenny Graham, Paul Ruseau, and Michael Mastrobuoni. We have all become good friends and I quite literally could not have done this without their partnership, support, and deeply stupid jokes. The same goes for our field coordinators, Jessica Taddeo (as mentioned), Aislin Anderson, and Josh Terrill. We are so lucky to have these people. We are so lucky to be in community together.

Okay, enough thanks! Let’s go do this, Medford. Let’s get to work.
